Going through some old photos on my hard drive I came across this picture postcard of Holyrood House gardens.
This picture was painted in about 1908.
Just a few facts relating to Holyrood House
In January 1710 Maurice Johnson, the founder of the Spalding Gentleman's Society in the same year, married Elizabeth Ambler who lived at Holyrood House and they had 26 children.
In 1901 the residents of Holyrood House were Fitzalan Howard, Edith Thacker and their son John Curtois Howard.
Fitzalan Howard of Holyrood House, Spalding was High Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1910. This is a title that dates back to Thorold in the 10th century.
Holyrood House was demolished around 1959 after falling into disrepair and was replaced by the council offices, pub and the Vista in the 1960s.

Yes its a big day in Moulton today with the windmill getting its set of sails. Its been a long road for the team who have got this together but it must be really satisfying to see that first sail go on. Well done to them all.
